I am actively looking for a job and I would be grateful if you can consider my resume for a position within your respected company. I have completed my Bsc (Honours) in Mathematics and Finance at City University London, United Kingdom and I have been awarded a class II upper division.
I enjoyed the course which I have done as it comprises of the different subjects for which I have an affinity. My modules have enabled me to improve my analytical and quantitative skills. I have done a few modules that focused on decision making namely operational research and decision analysis which helped in developing my abilities ininterpreting the real-life, ill-defined problems and formulate them as linear or dynamics or network problems. My course focuses on finance as well. I have a deep knowledge of the quantitative aspects of options, futures, and other derivatives. I also have a good understanding of the mechanism of interest rates, bond pricing, forward and futures markets, interest rate futures, forward rate agreements and interest rate swaps, option markets, trading strategies involving options. Although the majority of my course is of financial and mathematical nature, I have a theoretical understanding of the accounting principles which I have acquired from my module Finance and Financial reporting which is also a core technical module from the Institute of Actuaries UK. From this module I have learnt the principle features and the basic construction of different types of accounts and financial statements of a company along with the ability to interpret them. In addition I am looking forward to acquire professional qualifications such as ACCA/ACA or CFA.
Furthermore I have acquired several transferable skills through my working experience. Before starting my tertiary studies I worked as a non-motor claims handler in an insurance company for six months. Through my experience there I have further developed my ability to pay attention to every details as there are customers who report claims that might not be covered by the insurance policy. Having face to face interactions with customers, my communication skills have greatly improved and I have gained confidence to tackle difficult situations. I also developed the ability in explaining the technical aspect of the insurance policy in layman terms. My sense of responsibility increased to a great level as I was also responsible to make payments to customers on the system. Moreover I realised the importance of team work because we were all assigned a responsibility for a particular claim thus we relied on our colleagues towards final settlement of claims. My second work experience was at Kingston University as a clearing hotliner where I developed extensively my communication skills especially over the phone. Fast learning is one of my main qualities which was demonstrated in my ability to fully use the recruitment system of the university within three days, therefore I am confident I can easily learn and use any new system in a short amount of time.
I believe that my degree and my work experiences have trained me for both the intellectual and professional aspects of this career and I am eager to acquire new skills. Please find attached a copy of my CV for your kind consideration. I would be available to join the role at short notice. I look forward to hearing from you.
